Why Are Chromosomes The Best Organelle?
Chromosomes are the most important organelle because they hold our DNA, protein synthesis relies on it, and organisms cannot survive without it.
Chromosomes holds our DNA which we need. Without DNA our cells would not be able to grow, develop, or reproduce. DNA holds the code for protein, so if we do not have DNA we do not have protein. DNA is also very important during reproduction, the fetus’ parents need DNA to give to their future child.
Proteins are needed for the growth of muscle, connective tissues, skin, and they are needed to make enzymes. A cell cannot survive without proteins, but proteins cannot be made without chromosomes. The instructions for synthesizing proteins are inside the cell. So, without chromosomes there will not be enough proteins in the cell to do all the important jobs the cell relies on it to do.
Lastly we cannot survive without chromosomes. According to Jef Boeke, Ph.D., Sc.D., a professor of molecular biology and genetics and co-director of the High Throughput Biology Center of the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences at Hopkins, “Maintaining genome integrity is crucial for cell survival.” Broken chromosomes and damaged DNA is known to lead to cancer. Without chromosomes, cells lose control of when and if they are supposed to divide. If this happens the cell will become cancerous. This results in the organism dying.
Cells are the most basic fundamentals of life, all living things are made out of them, cells need chromosomes to survive. Chromosomes hold our DNA, chromosomes make protein synthesis possible, chromosomes are the key to life, what could possibly to be more important than a chromosome?

This is all correct, but without the cytoskeleton (specifically the microtubules) the chromosomes wouldn't be able to move. During cell division the chromosomes need to be separated by the spindle fibers, which are a part of the microtubules. If chromosomes don't separate properly or at all, you will end up with cells with different genetic information. If cells don't divide at all, there can be problems with growth, functions in the body, and cancer can be caused. Chromosomes cant move without microtubules. I agree that chromosomes are n important organelle, however they are not the best of all.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the chromosomes do rely on the cytoskeleton, but did you think of how the cytoskeleton knows what to do. The chromosomes sends information to the cytoskeleton telling it how to do all of its jobs. For an example the chromosomes send genetic information and DNA to the cytoskeleton, this will allow your organelle to know how to form just right so all the organelles can complete their tasks. So what I am saying is the cytoskeleton is very iportant to the cell and the chromosomes, but without chromosomes the cytoskeleton will not know how to form perfectly so all the organelles can complete their tasks. The cytoskeleton is important but it is useless without the chromosomes. Chromosomes are the key to life. Vote Chromosomes!
